FAQ

Getting Started

None! Programming is tailored to you, where you’re at in this moment, with the unique skills and limitations you bring to your practice.

I’m trained in Pilates, and I hold a CPT (certified personal trainer). We can do a large variety of movements together, depending on your goals.

We will center experimentation and play; adapting evidence-based methodologies from the Pilates method as well as traditional strength training.

My vision is for you to leave each session having investigated, and potentially learned a new skill. You will sweat, work hard, laugh outloud, and get stronger.

During your intake, we’ll dig into your goals, your movement history, and any injuries or disabilities I should know about—so we can train you effectively, keep you safe, and build a plan that actually fits your body.

I offer a few sliding scale or reduced-cost slots. Please reach out to me at sophia@resoundstrength.com if cost is a barrier.

Nope. Duets and trios can start together. If all parties would like to complete individual intake sessions for confidentiality, that is also welcome.

I believe in the power of consistency when it comes to any movement practice. That being said, I know intimately that the disabled body ebbs and flows, and with that can come a fluctuating capacity.

My recommendation and request is for clients to come see me at least once a week. If you’re able to commit to this on a semi-regular basis, you’ll unlock my lower rate, via my subscription option.

Duets & Trios

For duet and trio sessions, one person holds the booking and subscription.

You’re welcome to split the cost however works for your group—we just keep one account as the point of scheduling so everything stays simple.

Training in a small group boosts accountability, keeps costs lower, and usually involves a lot of laughter and collaboration.

Hypermobility &

Chronic Pain

I offer personalized strength training programming. My work is tailored to you, where you’re at in this moment, with the unique skills and limitations you bring to your practice.

I specialize in working with folks who are hypermobile, chronically ill/ in pain, and/or in any other way marginalized by the fitness industry. My programming focuses on balance, stability, and joint control in safe ranges. I train many clients with hEDS, hypermobility spectrum disorders and related conditions, and tailor programming carefully.

I have lived experience with hypermobility, chronic pain/injury, and neurodivergence.

Absolutely. Many clients suspect they’re hypermobile long before receiving a formal diagnosis.

Training is designed to reduce pain, not flare it. We move progressively, adjust based on your nervous system and recovery, and prioritize long-term capacity.

In some cases, it may be necessary for you to seek medical clearance before beginning.

Absolutely. I work with folks of all ages, sizes, abilities, races, gender identities, and class identities.

Neurodivergence

Yes. Sessions are structured but flexible, with clear goals, variation, and room for experimentation. We can adapt pacing and cues to what your brain thrives on.

Yes. You can expect predictable structure, direct communication, consent-based cueing, and respect for sensory preferences.

You bet! Your regulation matters and it’s a powerful tool for progress. We build sessions around how your nervous system works.

Safety & Approach

Never. We work with pain signals, not against them, and they say the body whispers before it screams.

There can be some amount of discomfort when starting a new movement routine, but I value your input/ expertise at every point along the way; you will never be told to “grin and bear it.”

NOPE. I find diet culture extremely harmful; it is rooted in capitalism, as well as fatphobic, anti-racist, and ableist European beauty standards.

I am not qualified to counsel you on your diet or nutritional habits, and I do not program for intentional weight loss. I do not use the BMI, or any other form of body fat metrics in this work.

Yes <3

Smaller groups, individualized programming, trauma-informed coaching, and a focus on long-term strength over intensity for intensity’s sake.

No bootcamp energy here. Expect clear coaching, collaboration, and challenge without shame.

Practical Questions

Comfortable clothing you can move in. Gym shoes and socks.

I have a 24-hour cancellation policy.

Things come up, bodies flare, life happens. If you are able to give me 24 hours notice, I can roll over your payment to the next session, otherwise I’m unable to offer refunds.

About Me

I come from a dance background, and I have been working in the fitness industry since 2018, teaching classes and working with private clients. In 2021, I obtained my NPCP (National Pilates Certification), followed by my CPT (Personal Trainer Certification); since then I’ve become obsessed with the benefits of strength training for hypermobility and chronic pain.

As a mover with hEDS, ADHD, and a variety of other chronic health conditions, I deeply know how challenging this industry can be for disabled folks; many of us leave gym spaces feeling unsupported, disenfranchised, and uninspired, if not in overt physical pain. My experience spans a wide breadth of age, body size and ability, and extends far beyond the popularized versions of this work, visible in western media.

I am in the business of helping people find embodiment, as a tool for radical social change. When more of us learn how to be embodied, we increase our capacity for change making. In a disembodied world, it is a form of resistance to get to know ourselves, and a gift to do it in community. You may be interested in working with me if you value collaboration, and believe that building strength does not have to be linear.
